The use of a variety of animal products in Chinese Traditional Medicine is well known. Less appreciated by those concerned with the current rate of poaching of Africa’s wildlife is the fact that a diversity of animal products has also long been used in African Traditional Medicine.
Studies have shown that in Africa, traditional medicines have a diversity of uses, not merely for the treatment of physical illness. Indeed, studies have shown that for many Africans, good health requires not only a healthy body but also a healthy environment, and that it is possible to absorb harmful elements from the environment that can cause misfortune and ill health. There is therefore a belief that by taking certain medicines it is possible to guard against malevolence and bring good luck and fortune. Â Such protection can extend to guarding against witchcraft, evil spirits, jealousy; and also to provide love, spousal fidelity and job opportunities.
One of the interesting products used is lion fat. Apparently it has wide usage in many parts of Africa, and consequently could be a contributory factor to lion poaching.
This item is inspired by African royalty attire, specifically as portrayed in the movie Coming to America. the piece features a smaller lion head (albeit life-size) than the previous sash offered in the shop. Unlike the previous sash, it also includes a full lion skin proportional to the head. the skin serves as a cape and does not include paws or the tail but is cut in the general shape of a lion skin. Other colors and animals also available on request. this piece can be used as a throw or a rug when not in use. The lion can be worn on either shoulder or various other ways. It does not have to be worn as seen in the photos.
Please pay close attention to mane length, color and associated pricing.
