Real Domestic Dog Skull – Brachycephalic
Brachycephalic syndrome, or brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS), is a condition that affects dogs with short, flat faces (brachycephalic breeds) like bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers. This syndrome occurs due to the anatomical structure of their skulls, leading to respiratory issues caused by narrowed airways, elongated soft palates, and small nostrils. Symptoms include noisy breathing, snoring, exercise intolerance, and, in severe cases, respiratory distress, which may require medical or surgical intervention to improve the dog’s quality of life.
