A tail feather from the extinct huia bird. Huia feathers were highly valuable and exchanged for other valuable goods and symbolised mana and prestige. The last confirmed huia sighting was in 1907 in the Tararua Ranges. Framed behind anti-reflective protective glass. Feather L205 W45mm

Designed and modelled by Bruce Yallop while working for Studio Ceramics at the turn of the 21st century. Studio Ceramics was staffed and run by artisans trained at Crown Lynn. Bruce began as a trainee were he designed several of the pieces in the seventies and eighties.
